Ok, so I haven't posted in a longggg time. In fact I have been getting discouraged at detecting for a while I busted my a$$ every weekend last year and nothing lol my first day out in the first 10 mins in a park right behind my house I find a 1788 mass common wealth, I have hiked miles to cellar holes through prickers and vines and found nothing , I literally walked to this park lol 5 mins from my house, I'm freaking out this is my best find to date!!! If anyone has any more info as to the rarity please let me know. And how I should clean it just let it soak in water or olive oil I won't do anything until I get an experienced persons instructions

Glad to see you are back at it...and what a come-back!!! Not sure what you have yet because my coin books are home but it looks awfully familiar.

Nice find!! I think what you have is a massachusetts colonial coin !!! There are 2 kinds, look for a period after massachusetts =ED

What's weird is this town wasn't incorporated till 1850, new Britain, CT I was shooting for silver lol not colonials haha I wonder how it got there

I think it all goes back to the 13 colonies ,people were traveling every where. As far as cleaning-water no water, oil no oil , see what the pro's say it seems to varey=ED

Nice find DanTheNewbie!

The coin looks good as-is. At MOST I would take a finger and very lightly rub the very highest points of the design to bring them out more (the natural oils on our skin will do that). Other than that, the coins looks great--and any cleaning you do will probably make it worse, or at least risk it looking worse. FANTASTIC find!
