1788 KG III (Machins Mills???)

1788 KG III (Machin's Mills)

I was wondering if anyone here can help me out with this (obviously) dug coin. I looked online, but other than ones struck at Machin's Mills, I can't find any other examples of a 1788 KG. Is it more likely just a run-of-the-mill counterfeit? I'm hoping that someone with a lot more knowledge in identifying old coppers can tell me what's what. Also, how common is it to be digging up post-revolution british coinage anyway?

It's a Machin's all right, Vlack 23-88A, nice find!

Yes, as said above it's a Machin's, but had it been a British counterfeit it would certainly not have been run of the mill being dated 1788 ( that's why you could not find one), and it would have actually been much much better than the MM it is. That being said, a MM is a much better find than the typical British counterfeit, so a winner.... and in nice dug condition too!
