Details??
Driving in my neighborhood to a public site and passed a private property that I have noticed many times, but had the courage to ask for permission and was given it. I started finding modern change then a wheat penny, keys with chain, copper pipe peices, pull tabs, then in the front of the property got the signal and dug about 10 inches. Because of the depth I assumed012.webp011.webpit was a copper pipe, then saw the French copper. I didn't think it was real at first. I shortly after dug a 1798 Capped Bust large cent and then found a letter opener(would love to know how old it is) in a small patch of woods in the back of the property.004.webp006.webp007.webp

I like that letter opener. Nice 1792 copper too. Glad you stopped hopefully they will let you come back to hunt again.

Got to love how the bronze coins don't rot.

Nice coin, but letter opener is real cool.

I do have permission to go back :)
I would love to know the date to this letter opener.

Nice find...but not a copper...as Rick noted, it's a bronze! I dug a bronze 12 Denier last year very similar to that. Great find!

Thanks for the correction :)

Great finds! Congrats.

A couple nice finds there. I really like that letter opener. Kids must have took it out to play with and lost it.

Its a French 2 Sols. In very good nick as well.
Are you insinuating I nicked it with my trowel? That nick was on the coin if I did it there would be discoloration.
