Every kid needs a piece of eight so some time ago I bought this 1799 with chop marks. Personally I think the chop marks add to the coins history but the gouge in the pillar looks different. Is it a bank essay gouge to prove authenticity? Can you tell me anything about the history of the coin by the marks? I paid about $95 for the coin in the early 2000's did I do OK? Thank you.
