Just recieved an ok to search on 10/07/08,Owner said sure but I gotta tell ya this place has been hunted by dozens of people. He said he purchaced the property in 1966.and explained the old layout of the property. So away I went,Dug 4 wheaties at about 6 inches. The soil was moist,so I cranked up the sensitivity to 95 and loweredmy discrimination to 15.Started reading alot of 4 inch surface junk. Then a shallow target had a tweak of treasure, so I dug up the junk iron at 4 inches, and hit the hole again.BANG! sound of a digger,at around 8 inches I checked for the target with my bullseye,2 inches under the loose soil pooped up this target. One thing I haved learned in metal detecting ,No place is ever hunted out.Go slow and hope. Just a swingin!!!!!!!!!!!

Super silver find. How do you like your M6? Can I make a suggestion. Carry a small container of cooking oil to place your coins in to loosen dirt instead of wiping soil away from coin. Will not leave scratches on coin and raise value. Keep up the great detecting....

WELCOME TO TNET FROM THE UK :icon_sunny:

Its another lesson of why its good to remove large iron objects. The only things left in our fields after years of searching is the odd iron nail. NICE JOB

Dad & I swing side by side, & once on the edge of my right swing I dug a complete horseshoe. I continued on & Dad picked up a Gold Coin right next to where I dug. :) Lesson Learnt.

Super coin. :wav:

Nice find but.... :icon_scratch: What is it a dime, a quarter, a half dime, a half? :icon_scratch: Where is the picture of the reverse? ???

Keep @ it and HH!! :D ;D

Ouch.

Careful with wiping those on your jeans.

Nice dime though, and a great find for a well-hunted site. :)

Nice find. If and when your Bullseye ever dies on you, get the Sun-Ray inline. Man, what an improvement!

The trick "Local Swinger" is to know your detector (and headphones) and know what it is telling you. Some nice items still crack like iron, nothing is sure until you dig it out. Really. I only leave most small iron, anything that sounds like its a bit bigger I dig. That way I don't miss the keys and other things. And I can tell you for sure that some coins crack just like iron, I know that for a fact.

Yes I dig I guess about 50% more holes than other people, but ask CRU what I find and he will tell you how much. I use a fairly large shovel also, dig quickly, and always always fill in the hole, even when the farmer with the tractor is behind me plowing and does not care if I fill them in at all. Why? Well you get used to doing it, it becomes automatic. In fact, once I know the item is out of the hole and in a part of the soil or clump, I fill in the hole BEFORE looking at what I found.

A last tip from me, if the soil is not too trashy I ALWAYS search in ALL METAL, and believe me, it has brought me profits....
