1800's finds & ID Help (Possibly my last post for a while)

With the forecast calling for temps in the teens for next week I don't think I will be getting out much.

I spent some time earlier in the week searching the forest for an old mill. Late in the afternoonm after about 2 hours of searching I found what I think were the remains of the mill, which shows up on maps from the 1850's. I found the number "6" sleigh bell, which is, from what I can tell by the type of grommet hole, is definitely mid-1800's, and this other object. I think it is pewter. It read just above the nickel reading.

The other thing looks like part of a garment to me, maybe part of a cloak? Any help with ID on this smaller item is greatly appreciated.

I will be returning to the site as soon as the thaw comes.

Nice find. Send a message to Earthworks with the link to your find. I was with him when he found the exact sleigh bell and he might know more.

Very nice bell. No idea on #2....cabinet door pull??

Re: 1800's finds & ID Help (Possibly my last post for a while)

Are you sure that #1 is a bell? It kinda looks like an old tea ball to me. No, your right, it's a bell. A tea ball would come apart.

Very cool finds. Your whatzit could be a zipper pull? Not really certain....but it's very neat. Love the sleigh bells too.

Take a break for a while and clean some clad and do some research! See ya when you return.
