Went on a hunt today with my buddy Eric at a 1802 farm. Had a great time. Got my first flat button and other bottons. Anybody have an idea on the 2 piece? The back is toasted. I believe the knife handle is silver also. Can't find a makers mark on it. I was told by a guy on Detect America that the wagon may be a civil war ambulance pin. He is researching it. The area was raided by Confederates during the Jones-Imboden raids of 1863. HH!

WTG WVH. Nice digs, what's the weather like down in the WV. It was 30 and windy here, wind chill of 18 degrees.

Hope the research id's it as CW era - it does look more like a pioneer wagon though. CW ambulance wagons were more square in design. Very cool finds - congratulations!

When we started there was about an inch of snow on the ground. 30 and wind chill was just plain cold. LOL The started coming out around noon and melted most of the snow. Still was windy and cold. Had good time. Eric found a nice conestoga bell.

Every time I see a little covered wagon like that, the theme song to the Oregon Trail pops into my head, :laughing7:
Cool history if it turns out to be a Civil War ambulance pin

Excellent hunt,, the dates on those Wheat Pennies shows some relatively recent activity. The covered wagon pin is cool.
