1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

Got out to the site of an 1803 Plantation that burned in 1840. The home was rebuilt across the road in 1842 and is privately owned now by some relatives of one of my employees.
Normal relics were showing up like harmonica reeds, farm implements, etc. Found a very nice iron with the handle missing. The finds of the day however were what appears to be a silver plated, brass rein guide (3rd one I have found out there), an ornate, concave button with floral design, a burned to almost unrecognizable condition 1838, 39 or 40 seated Dime, a small bit of a Reale and what I believe to be an early (1800) U S Diplomat button. The eagle was pretty clear when it came out of the ground but has faded quite a bit-It does have a backmark but is illegible-maybe someone can identify.
thanks.

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

wow that looks like a great spot. Hope you can find some coins that survived the fire.

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

Looks like most of that was in the fire. Great Finds.

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

You have a great diggin' spot there!

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

Nice finds.... There has to be more coins around that place keep searching.... :headbang:

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

congrats!!!!! some very good coins and caches can be found at old plantation sites---I'd search with a really deep-seeking type detector and dig any deep sounding or big sounding signals----a 2 box detector would be good for this-----but by all means search with regular sized coils also---might be plenty old coins, buttons, etc. at that site.

LOL @ Upcountry SC :D
I've never heard any one call it that.

Those are some great finds!

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

I have always referred to it as the UpCountry. Believe it to be the more original terminology. Agree most call it Upstate but dont particularly like that term.
I should have used the more accurate term though......... God's Country!
Thanks.

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

You've latched onto a great site there. I'd be hitting that place hard until the signals were non-existent. IMHO the fire damage only enhances the beauty of those coins and relics.

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

sounds like a cool site to hunt

I can't wait to see your next finds! That's a great place to detect.

Re: 1803 Plantation site was "hot"!

Looks like that's going to be a real productive site for you! :notworthy:
Bet there's a lot more to find that didn't get burnt too! :icon_thumright:
