Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Very nice LC finds Vino! :occasion14:
Any thoughts about 'loaning them' for display purposes back to 'The Founding Fathers Meeting House'? :icon_scratch:

Great hunt bud! Could be a great spot. I'm going to look for my chain cent this weekend :-)

How did you approach the director about permission? I dont even have my detector yet but I'll be trying to ask permission to dif places in a few weeks in some local areas. Did you like set up an appointment, walk-in, call, friend of a friend?

C'mon FedEx hurry up!

Hey, you probably got Spanish colonial out there older than that! Plus, you never know. My dad was born in '34 and can still remember asking for pennies instead of nickels because pennies were bigger. Large cents did not totally disappear from use till at least that time, although they were probably rarely spent. So you never know, your next hunt may produce a large cent that some kid lost in the 20's or '30's. You just never know what will show up, even in areas that you would never have thought they would be.

I give it all back to them...It belongs there!!!!
I rarely keep anything. ..I make up display cases and donate back with my company name on it..So I do a little avertising. ..lol..

Great finds George and a great thing you do! I am sure that you and treblehunter will make some fantastically great finds. If you find some more 1793, 1794, 1795, 1796, etc. Half Cents and/or Large Cents as you usually do, you might slip one in a hole for treblehunter to find. I am sure that it would make his day!

make the best of your opportunity and do your best to leave a good impression... that always opens other doors. good luck

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! History you are touching!

Ha,I can't believe you let the cat out of the bag. The places we have hunted together already have been like a dream, the people/ history there leaves me speechless. Your list/letters of references are to die for. I feel blessed for the opportunity of hunting these places. Thanks again vino, hey Frank, don't give him any ideas,I want to find them myself . Haaaaaa, I'll even be using his machine tomorrow, lol. Here is a metal detecting tip, always put the cap on the connector when you take off your headphones on the AT Pro when you go in ocean!

Sweet. Congrats on your spot

Abe, I'm going to find that chain and a GW button tomorrow!

Dossier..I just go in and ask..I have references from other churches.meeting houses.and such...I like finding history..I usually donate it back to the place..After all its just going to sit in a draw or in a box if I keep it..So let them display it!!! Dont get me wrong I have held on to some stuff..

The condition of those coins is great! Very nice, Vino.

Vino... I am sorry that I did not notice this before but the last coin pictured is not an 1809 Large Cent. The 1809 Classic Head Large Cent is a Key Date and the coin pictured is a Coronet Head Large Cent. Therefore, your' coin is more than likely an 1839 Coronet Head Large Cent and the "3" in the Date is just so eaten away, that it appears to be a "0". What made me realize this, was that I knew that the 1809 Large Cent is a Key Date and it didn't seem right, so I checked on it and found that it should be a Classic Head. It is still a nice find, no matter what and I am sure that you and treblehunter are going to make some really great finds on your next trip to the site!
