Large Cent * Mercury Dime * Indian Cent

Got permission to hunt a vacant lot where a Civil War era house burned down years ago.
Did a all day hunt on the lot - the bad news is that kids have been playing there for decades - newer clad coins everywhere !

Large Cent - 1812 - (Classic Head Type - well worn - got lucky - has a very visible date and other details).
At least 80% of the Large Cents found in our area are have 1830's - 1840's dates.
This is the oldest Large Cent I've ever found.
The 3rd Photo is of a NON DUG example of a 1812 Large Cent.

Congrats on the great finds! I like that the 1812 date is historically significant.

I was thinking of the War Of 1812 when I was able to see the date on the coin.
Then I realized how little I knew about the War.
So I read a little on the subject.
I don't know about you guy's but I don't want to stay stooopid forever.
