I got out today for a couple hours. I hit a spot I've researched but never went to...but I had sent friends there a couple times with success. I had a few good targets and I went home very happy. The first target was an 1864 IHC, followed by a 1809 Half Cent ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1448740158.545238.webp.

Next came a big ol flat button then the "Not One Cent" hard times large cent token.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1448740204.782896.webp
The coins were cleaned with the dry method. They're not in very good shape but I got dates from both. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1448740265.095605.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1448740275.034281.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1448740287.491728.webp

interestingly the flat button still had thread crammed under the shank. That's always cool!

Enjoy

You find a lot of nice stuff man. I like the hard times tokes. Only found a few & would be glad to dig more. lol

Sweet digs. I always enjoy reading your posts. Looks like you had easy digging in the sand. Those are 5 nice keepers.

Nice finds, I like the "not one cent"! Too bad about their condition..at least you were able to get a date

What an awesome mix of coppers- huge congrats!!

This is my second Hard Times tokens. The first was "Not One Cent for shin plasters" which referred to the over abundance of paper money.

sweet finds. love the token, that thing is awesome!

Thx Loco. The digging wasn't bad. I think the land was formally farm land so I didn't have to stomp on my shovel as much as usual.

Nice finds Scrappy, love the token

Nice going on the coppers and token, the ground is friendly soft now for digging.

And the Canadian cent too!!! 1947? sweet... that's a foreign wheatie!

thx Jeff. I like silver a whole lot but crusty coppers are equally awesome in my book;)

They were desperate times indeed. I included a couple links and there's actually a lot of good reads out there about that time.
