About a week ago I hunted a site on a hunch. It paid off with some old stuff:

Also, to keep up with the Miners (MM that is  ) I have to post my pocket watch cover:

Great job on that 1812. :icon_thumleft: You always come up with nice old coins you dog.
Great looking pocket watch cover and old skeleton key. Am I seeing "0.800" stamped on the watch cover? :icon_scratch:
Thanks for posting and tell the family "hello". Sud's sends his love. :love9:

Doug,
I agree. Last March they yanked a guy who was leading a project off of it and replace him with me. Never mind I had very little expertise in the area. Never mind I never really managed a major project. Finally, it has gotten to a manageable place.
Is suds really delivering papers?! lol Max is still trying to fetch the paper!
Miss you too. The watch does say .800. Swiss made. Most likely 1800's. Found at a grist mill site that dates back to the 1830's.
Bob

BTW - Nate found one of the little toy axes. Found within a few feet of where the two 1812 coins were found.

Those are some really nice finds Bob.

They are really early finds for you. Looks like a great site. Glad to see you doing a little hunting again. Hopefully in the future I will see you guys again for a hunt. Love that old classic head. I have yet to find one.

Take care

Jeremy

No, I am not going to sell it at this time. I have identified it as the key to a historic 1830's grist mill that is an important part of my city's history. The parks permit that I have for metal detecting the site says that they have first claim to anything found on the site. But....they have to pay me fair market value for the item. I will not take any money. I will just be happy to see it part of their historic display.

Yes, they are "early" finds for me. But, I have learned that you can only find "early" things if you hunt where "early" was. There are a lot of parks here that may date back to the 1920's but few parks (that have not been redone) that had actual activity earlier than the late 1800's.

NANA - Hope all is well and you are finding treasure. Another TNET person I miss.....

Al - Danimal has been MIA. No, for the most part our schedules have just not meshed. Only hunted with him once in the last few months.

What were the little Lead toy axes used for?

Some Great Finds! a pair of 1812s, Love 'em.
what is the 2nd coin? Wait I think i found it a "Voce Populi Hibernia"
The watch is in great shape!
interesting how watch case makers used odd silver contents, like .800, & .935.
way back I dug a watchback similar to yours, that little farmhouse on the side looks very similar.
your ID is a start to new research on this one,
Thanks for Posting!!

Nice to be missed :D

Bob and I talk often, but as he said, getting the schedules to match sometimes is difficult. I have been hunting fairly often (probably more hours than Bob) but just not with the man.
I am a loner these days
