What a way to end the day! 11 degrees when I got to the 2 cellars on private property I received permission to hunt. went there in the fall and the 1st site was and still is overgrown with vines and briars. 2nd site gave up some buttons and a knee buckle last time. decided to go back to both sites today. the clear site gave up a cool cast brass little buckle a few buttons, broken shoe buckle pieces and a cast brass face thing?
headed back to the overgrown site on way back to car with a 1/2 hour left of daylight and fought my way around the cellar. got a clad qtr a cool little buckle with a guy and his dog. and last signal i thought was gonna be a copper. Dug down and out pops a New York Militia Eagle belt plate. Amazing to see that come out of the ground! I had a friend look in the American Military Belt Plate book It's not in that one or any military belt plate book.
Can anyone help me with this? Is it a rare buckle?

Well look at you digging something amazing....again. Well done bud. I’ll save my BANNER vote for a definitive id....and of course if nobody can Id it it’s a super BANNER because it’s obviously something very special
Got a e-mail today from Steve Sylvia who is close friends with Mike O'Donnell, this was his and Mikes reply and consensus. It will be published In Mike O'Donnells new book on belt plates. and will be in Steve's magazine in the next issue of north South Traders as well as American Digger magazine.

It’s an incredible find and obviously quite a scarce. You’ve got my BANNER vote for sure. Congrats on adding another amazing find to your collection. Well done pal

Got my vote for banner bro!
thanks dude! I hope it makes it up there! I took a few more pics of it outside against some moss and a tree stump and another one with some dug buttons that probably would have been worn with the belt plate in the early 1800's
