So today, I decided to try out a spot I did a history lesson on. Not much luck at the start, someone defiantly has cleaned the spot out. I dug deeper and deeper into the bush, at this point its poring rain. my thought is to go home, my metal detector is not water proof, out the corner my eye i see some thing that does not look natural, old chiseled right into the bedrock house foundation. to untrained eye looks like a rock formation. Hit a 1942 Canadian Penny, oldest find of the day, i am happy then Bang next hole, I pull out a nail, but I then see the outer edge of a coin and pull this bad boy from the hole. My oldest Coin find to-date. i cant wait to go back in the nice weather and give this spot a proper comb over.

not a bad looking piece of OLD silver. Congrats on a good day turning into a great one!

sweet find I have no hope here of anyone spillin a shillin

i really am amazed at how well the coin stood up in the ground

I'm not sure of how to tell the difference but there is a 'Roman I' version of this 1825 Shilling that is 20x more valuable than the standard one. Its worth the further research to check.

Nicely done CraigBrown! I've always found that it pays to detect those spots that are hard to get at. Congratulations on your oldest coin to date. Hope there is even something older out there for you! Cheers, and HH.

Great find. Congrats!

Very nice find. Congrats on a great old coin.

Dang, that is super cool! Not sure I've seen one of those before. Congrats!!

Hi, nice find, Congrats:icon_thumright:

The coin is not the I instead of 1, but possible 5 over the 3, it joins the collection of coins that needs to be looked at by a trained professional.

Nice find, congratulations! :occasion14:
