1830s house only gave up 20th century coins

One of my permissions is an 1830s home and my oldest coin from there has been a 1909 wheatie. I think the neighbor has gone over the yard pretty well from what the owner tells me.

Thats ok, i managed 2 buffalos, 2 roseys, and a '64 washington. Also nabbed 6 wheats ranging from 1910 into the 30's. Theres half a silver plated spoon as well.

Not too bad for 1.5 hrs of putzing around.

Possibly, or once the trash is out of the way, they are deeper.

I honestly have not dug much trash. I found one nail, and a couple thin pieces of metal that rang up in the 50s. You could be right tho. I tried to go really slow today to let the at pro do its job and pick out some deep targets but i just wasnt getting over anything too deep. One wheatie was deep and must have been on edge because it was bouncing kind of high on the vdi. I was hoping large cent.


I offered to help the home owners with spring clean up and id like to search the property again sometime.

They might not be ancient but that's pretty good for 1.5 hrs out.
Hope you get to go back and find more and possibly older coins.

A three silver day and a couple buffalo's is a good start!! Congrats!! The kid and I hit a older property yesterday for the first time. It's been hammered over the years but, we still cleaned up.
Give it time, the old silver and coppers will show.

Very good hunt...3 silvers=good day on my book! I would bet good money there's old, deep silver there...keep at it, grid ALL directions...the ATP will sniff it out, most silver I've dug was the result of gridding back and forth, even at an angle. Those deep ones...they can be tricky! Good luck..Ddf
