i have this coin, now i need some advice, the hair wear on this one, do you think its from a worn die, or waer and tear? the are spots that would normaly be worn but they are mint state, the smooth areas are flawless, has a really nice braown marbeling to it. ialso, die crack goes through america.

wow, the pics make this coin look bad, the finish is awesome on this one, and on back all lettering is full.

Looks like normal wear to me. The stars on the left side are all worn and on the reverse there are spots of wear you would normally see with a past around large cent. It will probably grade a high VF.

Made your photos a tad better and I agree normal wear. There are 17 varieties of the 1837 and this coin appears to be a Newcomb 3 variety, Common.

ill try to take pics with better lighting, im using a 10 meg cam and for some reason when i resize it it messes it up, all grainy, so ill lower the pixles.
thanks guys

Try an offset light with different colored backgrounds,
sometimes the different colors will reflect or absorb light in such a way as to enhance the coin and show more detail.
