I did an extremely short hunt today (1/2 hr) at my new favorite location "grey cliffs" at the bottom of the tide, first hit wham! start digging, a coin! I was thinking initially it was a colonial or large cent. I lightly brushed away the sand to reveal the saying "I take responsibility/The constitution as I know it"..hmm, I never seen that before. When I got home, did a little research and it states:
"Hard Times Tokens were a non-government issued piece that was used as a substitute for currency. The tokens were a response to the hoarding of coins by the public during the Panic of 1837. They were issued until the panic ended around 1843. They are normally grouped into political, satirical, and store card themes."

In the short time I was there I also bagged a Royal silver plate spoon, which is dated roughly around 1906 and the tiniest little applied top bottle, roughly 1 1/2 inch's tall..
This location has me hooked...
