I thought I was finished with my 1800's cellar hole in the woods. Last month it yielded an 1833 LC and an 1861 IH plus a pile of neat relics but I figured it was time to move on when the signals dried up. Today I just got a feeling i should go back. I've been vacationing in Canada for a week (just some clad from the beach) and I was having withdrawl symptoms not having the chance to swing at an old site. Tonight i hiked back in to the woods to my old cellar hole and immediately got side tracked with picking and eating, by the handfulls, fresh raspberries!!! I didn't have my camera when I pinged a solid 79 vdi on my dfx at 5 inches. I KNEW it was an LC and i hesitated to dig right away cause i considered running home for my camera....not enough will power my friends, sorry,it had been a long dry spell....
Since i didn't have my camera i have to tell you it was a beautiful, Ohio summer evening. 80 degrees, low humidity. My fingers, then later my glove on my left hand were stained from picking and eating fresh raspberries as i swung my coil with my right. When I pulled that big coppa out of the ground i just stayed knelt down on my knees for a minute and took a look around at the woods surrounding me. No sounds of traffic,no signs of civilization, only birds singing in the background and I'm holding a coin fresh out of the dirt that someone could have dropped 171 years ago..... i can't seem to find the words to describe that feeling...thanks for havin a look and happy hunting!

All the old coins in Ohio are now living in fear! .........Jerry's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a great time to me bud, great copper and a nice little snack! You keep up the great work there! I got a new machine this week so I am trying to go through the learning process before I strike out at some old sites so its nice to at least look at what others are finding and you have gave me the inspiration to hurry up and get my butt back out there!

A special coin, and a special moment for you to find it - what with the peace and serenity of the woods and nature and wildlife around. What an incredible feeling you must have had - I don't blame you for just sitting there and drinking it all in.

Finding a large cent is a dream of mine. I know there must be at least one at the old farm house property I detect from time to time in Michigan. I did find an 1837 Canadian Half Penny Bank Token way out back towards the wooded area, but it ain't no Large Cent!!!

Beautiful find!!!

Thanks for sharing the pics, and your memories of the moment as well.
