You wanna hear something funny, I hunted this site two years ago and found squat! Of course back then I was using the Ace 350, amazing what a difference a new detector can make!
 I actually drove past the site this afternoon and turned around thinking, "what the hell, I'll give it another go! I took a couple of pics of the house and the property while standing in the driveway, it was very peaceful here.

The first relic to surface was the 'Tre-Chic Rouge' compact, then came the brooch. I honestly didn't think the brooch was anything special when I first found it, but when I got home I cleaned it up and saw how delicate it was! The large 1872 British Penny was a cool find, at first I thought it was an early Upper Canada coin
:icon_scratch:, but then I realized how thin it was and figured it had to be an English Penny! My last find was the King George V Penny. I also found a couple of lead fishing sinkers right in the middle of the front yard, reminded me of when I was a kid practicing 'casting' in my own front yard! :laughing7:

Thanks for looking,
Dave

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but here is my ATPro air test...

YouTube

I beg to disagree with the percentage of accuracy of an air test with a metal detector. :argue:

As I mentioned in my last post, "What I can tell you is that silver that's been buried in the ground for 50+ years will sound a lot different then a half that was only buried 6 months ago! Think about how the silver affects the soil around it, not to mention how mineralization affects metals in the ground over an extended period of time!"

Yes I agree that coins buried in the soil will sound different than in an air test. Some folks have claimed that their Pro wouldn't detect coins at 6 inches in their own air test, so I thought I would share my test. I'm very happy with my air test, and especially the results while actually detecting.

The video link works fine for me...

I agree with what you're saying as well J., that an air test does provide an accurate reading of the metal ID when your in a 'controlled environment'. I sounded harsh when I responded to your suggestion regarding the air test theory and I apologize to you for that.
:-[

I think what I was upset about last night was the fact that someone could make the claim, "that by burying a coin in the ground and when a detector couldn't find it that there must be a problem with the detector"! I've watched air tests online and have even preformed them myself in the past and they are helpful. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for your input,
Dave

No worries! Again, great finds...

Nice finds! Not trying to steal or start a thread here but whats people talking about with depth? I run my 350 in jewlery mode with sensitivity as maxed as conditions allow and pull silver dimes and quarters, wheats, and nickels at 8''-11''. My 150 used to get coins at 6''.

I hear what you're saying Adam. Deeper does not always mean older in detecting, as I'm sure you well know. I get similar results with my AT Pro and 'the depth' that it gets has a lot to do with the type of soil you're working. My oldest coin find (1831 British Penny, see pic) was only at 2" when I found it, yet I found a 1996 $1 Canadian 'Loonie' at a depth of 6" in the middle of the front yard of an 1840 farm!

Besides, anything deeper than 8" is really tough to get an accurate reading on unless it's really big like a square nail or a horseshoe! :laughing7:

Best of luck to you my friend!
Dave

I love the broch

Thanks for your post BHG! :hello:

In all honesty, I love finding old brooches, I seem to find a lot of them in the front yards of old homes. I guess people lost them during family functions or when they were out for an after dinner stroll. I only hunt old farms and homesteads, so most of my jewelery finds are pretty old.

Here are some pictures of other brooches that I found this year and last!

Thanks very much for the words of support dawg!
Last year I was too often getting frustrated with other members on this site, so I decided to post to another site for a while. I figured I'd give it another try here and see how it works out. Wouldn't you know it on my first post back, I had a Canadian post that, I was an "average digger", the button I found was "not considered rare", but "an early Admiral button, that would be rare, but not these"!

I know I've banged on about this for a while now, but if there are going to be rules to posting on this site than they need to be adhered to! :dontknow: It just seems that to some members here, that rules of common decency don't seem to apply.

Take care my friend,
Dave
