1840s U.S. Ordnance Coat Button, Field-Made Hat Plate, & Other Campsite Finds

Here's the result of this weekend's digs at a couple sites including a new campsite. Dug what I believe is an awesome field-made hat plate. If you look at the close-up, you

can see where the person put the rivets into the metal to hold it to a leather strap. Also found some nice buttons but also a NASTY Eagle that was all caved in :P :P ;D

 Themosquitos were out in FULL FORCE today and nearly drove us out of there if it hadn't have been for our die hard determination to dig, they MIGHT had.....

Here's the pics of everything:

-1830s-1840s U.S. Ordnance Coat Button
-Field Made Hat Plate
-Gilted Flower Button
- "22" Cuff Button
-3 General Service Eagle Buttons
-1 Blank Shield Eagle Vest Button
-3 Indian Heads (1879, 1880 & 1889)
-1 1-Piece Eagle Artillery Button
-Ornate Kepi Buckle
-Toe Tap
-Carved Minie

I'm still amazed with those sites still producing quality relics Josh. That flower button looks great. What the history of the "22" button? Is it Dragoon, WW1, or what? WTG AGAIN, Quindy.

Thanks Quin! :icon_thumleft:  Not sure yet on the 22 Cuff Button. Could stand for 22nd Regiment but I cannot be certain at this point in time. Will need to do alittle

research into it.

It's one that you don't find everyday. I'd say you dig 1 for every 100 Eagle Buttons
