I went back for a third look today with my small coil. I previously have found a pocket watch, 1834 LC, and a similar period locket. I got out of work late so I had about 15 minutes to hunt, so I went to this site instead of another site I would have hit had I more time. Anyway, I had a hit by it was iron-bound with only a few highs. 8-46, 29-48, 30-32, 30-46, but I dug that sucker.
At the bottom of the hole was a Largie lying on a huge nail. So long and close in fact, that some of the iron is still stuck to the LC (above "states")! I pinpointed again and pulled out another #16 nail! Thank you, CTX for the clarity.
