First off, I found this token in the ground and forgot it in a pocket. It went in the washer and I found it today during dinner. Sigh...

I actually cannot find this token specifically anywhere, but an identical one from 1853 gave away its ID. Listed as rare by Heritage Auctions for an 1853x but I have my doubts.

If anyone has any info let me know. I’m curious why I can’t find anything for 1854. What I know is it’s a Draper and Sandland Jeweler token from Attleboro, Massachusetts. Here’s the coin...

Here’s the Heritge link.

The link says it’s very rare but please keep in mind it’s an auction, and they’re in the business of selling coins.

Its a good find considering I haven’t hunted in a week or more;)

Now that's something different. And squeaky clean! :laughing7:

That is a great find, Steve. Congrats.

Very nice piece. Good thing you didnt lose it.

Cool find. Maybe the 1853 Heritage Auction token is rare because unless I'm going blind says 1855

I actually referenced a Calender from 1854 to cross-check the day/dates. I didn’t just use my eyes.

Cool token, congratulations! :occasion14:

That's a really cool find! I love those and rarely ever see one posted

Great find Scrappy! Very interesting and old token. Congrats!!

I've only ever found 1 calendar coin, I think it was 1790s but would need to check. I do agree that they are at least a very rare find - CONGRATS

Here's another 1854 calendar token:https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1854-brass-calendar-token-sperry-york-1885653702
[FONT=&quot]"A table for January through June is on one side, with July through December on the other. The January side says "Calendar for 1854 Issued Semi-annually" at the top, and "J. A. Sperry 25 (or maybe "2S"?) John St. N. Y. Publisher". The July side says "Ent: Accor: to Act of Cong'ss in the year 1851 by I. B. Person" at the top, and In the Cl'ks Office of the Dist: Court of the Southern Dist: of New York" on the bottom. "

Great find Don. Thanks for the help.

I’ll take your word for it any day over an auction site. I posted this in hopes of confirming an ID, but also in hopes of figuring out how common this token is...I see the consensus is tending toward rare.

But rare doesn’t necessarily mean valuable. $6 and this token will still just buy me a pint, so this goes in a display and I go to the pub.

Correct, rare but not valuable.

It's banner to me buddy!
