1854 Half Dime is this and error coin??

1854 half dime?? is this an error coin ??
not sure if the back isn't struck or if its a just a later reproduction??

My guess is that you're seeing a solder mark on Liberty's head, and that this was turned into a brooch or perhaps just a button (although it's an odd place for a shank...) One other possibility is that the coin was turned to plane off the detail and the piece you're seeing on the obverse is what is left of the connecting piece from a cufflink. Was this a dug coin? Either way, I feel pretty darned certain that it is not only genuine, but a cool find!

That's a HECK of a find!

It looks like it was made into a pin at one time. The front of the pin was altered to get a specific design. Alot like a love token.
