I found this c1840 home site on an old map of my area, I approached the farmer and he gave me the go ahead to detect it. I hit this site for 3hrs on Saturday afternoon, before the rains came on. The finds were few and far between for a while, that is until I found the approximate location of where the house stood. It was originally a wood frame structure and likely only lasted for 25 – 30 years before it burnt, this is evident by the wide spread of the finds by the plows over this 5 acre site. Some of the more interesting finds were the skeleton key, the Upper Canada Halfpenny, the pottery and of course, the horse teeth! :laughing7:

My new friend ‘Don the Farmer’, showed up right on cue to disk the field for me for my return hunt.

I plan on returning here tomorrow morning, thanks for looking!
Dave

One of the reasons I love old farm land is the variety. Nice hunt!

It's so true, you just never know what father may have been dropped in the grass behind the house 150 years ago.
But, years later I now find the key he lost in what is now a farm field.

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Nice hunt. Looks like a good spot.
Thanks very much for your post SF. :occasion14:
