The woods around my favorite cellarhole gave up a few interesting finds yesterday. The pocket watch back about gave me heart failure ;D The last coin i dug out of this area last weekend was a draped bust large cent so when i got a 93 vdi on my dfx at 5 inches my imagination ran wild. I dug a large deep plug, flipped it out and saw big silver in the bottom of the hole. NOT a draped bust half LOL
Enjoy the pics!!

I like the buttons and silver case too.

Re: 1864 Two Center

Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to post a response on this two center, I appreciate it. I've been busy the past few days learning how to edit a 5 minute video down to a more acceptable 2mins. The editing is a little rough but I think you'll get the idea..........HH Jerry

great find, and cool video!

Great job Jerry, the way you started the video ie: showing your XLT screen display with the VDI #'s, depth and signagraph, along with the audio is a great learning tool. Should anyone (hint! hint!) ever make a video just like the start of yours showing good, bad and iffy signals it would cut the learning curve for these instruments drastically. Actually, White's should do it so their customers know what good signals look like and how they sound. Again, good job and I always enjoy reading your posts.

Jerry,
Awsome video!
Great work finding it too. Some may have passed a signal like that. I bet we sure have left some good things behind. Learning curve for sure!

I've always loved the 2 cent pieces. For being dug, it is in fantastic shape. The soil was very kind to it. :icon_thumright:

Jerry, that was a Great video.

Have you considered acquiring an army issue shovel to tackle those woods? Poison ivy, ticks, and heat are a much greater risk with a lesche or trowel.

Just trying to watch out for you, my friend.

I just found a 2 cent and 3 cent peice in the same hole! at first I believed the 2 cent was a shield nickle, heavily corroded. But after looking at your 2 center I now realize that I have the same coin. The ribbon on the top tells the tale. Both coins soaking now, no dates. The soil was very acidic. I'm glad you found that 2 cent, otherwise I would still beleive I had a Shield Nickle.

Thanks BB, your probably right about the army shovel, I've taken a folding boy scout shovel with me a few times but found i just didn't like luggin it around. I've got a carpenters leather/metal looped carrier for a hammer that i thought about trying but it just seems the older i get the more set in my ways i become ;D

Glad this post helped you id your coin. The shield nickel and two center shields are very similar, a 3 cent piece is still eluding me, nice pocket spill!!

Jerry,
Loved the video! :icon_thumleft: Congrats on the 2 cent piece. I would love to find a coin like that. :notworthy:
Congrats,

Congrats on the two cent piece the condition is just fantastic!

Great find Jerry, really liked the video. I'm like the others, I'd be using my entrenching tool from 1967, that I carry with me at all times in places like your hunting. I use a hammer holder to carry it on my web belt. I also spray down with bug spray and tape my pants legs down with duct tape. That will keep some of the critters from getting into places you don't want them.
