Lost three days of detecting to a bad cold but forced myself out for a bit last night after work. While sick I received a bunch of stuff I had ordered recently. A used, but better condition than my current, minelab explorer II. An 11" pro coil. And some killer bee wasp headphones. I got the new rig setup and I think I matched the detector settings to those of my old detector. I hit 3 beaches with less than stellar results. I lack confidence with the new setup. I think this comes from the coil and the headphones. The headphones are 150ohm instead of 100. So I think that may cause my sounds to be different I need to do some testing to find out for sure. In any case the detector is much quieter even at full volume. The coil seems to be too sensitive around the outer ring causing double or even triple hits for a single target compared to the stock explorer II coil. And I am finding it very hard to pinpoint even with a quarter out of the hole.

Despite my frustration I did manage to surprise myself with a beautiful 1866 shield nickel. It's the first shield nickel with enough detail that I can be 100% confident of the type.
