Dug this today. looks like the original hook and bar broke off ( see old braze marks) and they attempted to make new attachments using iron rivets or something. Most people are saying Spanish-American War. Just wanted to get more feedback on it from you guys. Appreciate any info!update. someone sent me a photo of one he dug and shows the tongue portion still on back

Awesome plate with great detail. Congrats!

Nice plate. Hope you can get a positive ID on it. Congrats and GL

That is a nice find. I dug a half of one just like it, many years back. It was split, right where the guns intersect. I was pretty disappointed, not to have found the other half where I was searching.

That’s an awesome plate save. Congrats

Awesome relic find! :occasion14:

That’s a beautiful plate.
Congrats

Could be a buckle from a child's play costume. Maybe Davy Crocket.

Nice addition to your plate collection Dave

Nah all Davey Crockett buckles I seen have the name Davey Crockett on the buckle. he was a famous man so they made sure to put his name on it.

I simply used Davy as an example. In 1961 when the first reenactments were held every gift shop in the Shenandoah Valley was pushing this stuff heavy. There were muskets and hats and all kinds of stuff. I don't particularly remember these because we had the real things in the family so I wouldn't have paid attention.

Sears used to sell all kinds of playsuits for kids. They might well have had Union and Confederate suits.

Best wishes!

That is a cool buckle! Can't say I have ever seen one posted before...awesome!

First one that I’ve seen and I like it! Nice find.

Congrats my friend. I had fun hunting with you again and you got the find of the day with this plate. I have never seen one before. You are on a roll with plates this year buddy.

Now that’s a nice looking buckle!
