Hello ya'll. I got out Friday for a five hour hunt on a new permission. The crops are still in the fields so I got to work around the house which is about two acers of mowed lawn. The weather here has just been wonderful. Plucked three coins, 46 wheaty, 65 quarter and a 2010 zincoln Lincoln. Two buttons, one being a Navy coat or vest and hoping someone might be able to give me a age on. Scovill Mfg Co Waterbury in the groove on the back. A octogon shape tag that has J T D Pint Milk on it. Lead bullet and Brass shell W R A - 18. A oval shaped brass piece with a B on it. Thinking maybe a braclet. A pocket-eze pocketknife and Dick Tracy cap gun. The metal rose tag rang up as a steady 90 - 91 signal. Heart started racing thinking finally a silver half dollar. Finally a silver coin. Pulled it out, filled the hole back up. Stood up and started swinging again to the Led Zepplin "Heartbreaker" tune in my head. A couple other lil keepers and Home bound for supper. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.

That eagle button is gorgeous! Congrats on your finds. -Lisa & John

Looks like you had a blast!! I have been thinking of listening to music in the background while I detect, I wonder if anyone else does this? Nice finds, love the button!

Congratulations on a nice hunt. The Eagle button looks like the "Find of The Day"

Looks like a good day to me congrats

Cool Relic hunt! The button is a very nice find!

A really nice old eagle button.

I've tried listening to music... it can be too distracting, I have missed hits... I think he was just thinking about the music in his head not actually playing it...

That button is awesome! Heartbreaker, great song! LOL
Congrats and HH

Hi Dave. I pulled out my military button references and found that the pattern of Navy button that you found was used from "pre-1850 until 1941" (Albert, 1977). Then I pulled out my timeline for certain US military back marks and discovered that the version of the Scovill Button Company that you referenced in your post above was only used from "1850-1865". So I think that you have a winner in that button. That's a keeper. Civil War era! Good job!

I just want to say thanks to all of you. I've been coming to this site for awhile and have read many post. I'm not into posting so much but I feel like some of my finds are getting a lot better as to they are worth mentioning. There are a lot of members here who find really wonderful things I can only hope one day to find. I think that is the part that keeps me coming back to Treasurenet. A special thanks to John for taking the time and going out of his way to help me out with the button. GL & HH

Dave, great post! What a great site that 1882 house is! Judging by the amount of relics and other items you have found, I think it would be safe to say that you have found some rich, virgin ground and there is a lot more to be found there. A great post doesn't just have to be loaded with gold and silver...simply a well written article with great pictures and an awesome back-story, such as yours. Thanks very much for your post, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Ddf...

Congrats on some nice finds. I like that Eagle button. Great military find.
