What a great hunt! My first time out in 3 weeks, and I had two firsts: a seated dime and an Indian head. Add to that 12 wheaties (incl a 1910s, 1911, and 1913) the merc, $4 in clad, a cool pistol-style lighter and great old pocket knife, and I am a happy dude. The seated was the last thing I found after 4 hours, and was along the driveway of the circa 1850s home I was detecting. I had thought that whole area had been graded and back filled, but I found a hitching post ring a few feet before it and decided to dig the fairly low signal (rang up 74-75 on my at pro). Score!! :happysmiley:

HH!

Those are great digs!! Nice variety of finds!!!

Those old maples look like they have been giving people shade for a long long time. Good finds!

Awesome digs and a very nice hunting site. Congrats on those firsts.:occasion14:

Great finds! Was that a 1909 s Indian head?

Thanks everyone!

RBowtie: Sadly, neither the seated nor the ih had an "s" mint mark. Wouldn't that have been something!

Thanks Mr. Davis! : )

I believe it is a hair barrette. A bit on the heavy side, but the small star pattern and limited play in the tong make me think that's what it is. I'd welcome other ideas though...

I dug one of these a couple weeks ago and one a few years ago. I know I have seen them on here before I just cant remember what the person said it was. Once I read it I know it made perfect sense as strange as that sounds sense I can't remember what they said it was lol

I liked at it more closely and it came to me: bookmark! What do you think?
