I have been lurking on this site for a couple of years now, reading all of your great stories, but have never found anything of interest until last week. It rained here as if it were springtime and melted all the snow and I was down by the lakeshore and I found an 1887 Morgan Dollar, money clip.

I know that you all like pictures to go with the stories but my scanner is not hooked up. I will post a photo. The coin is in great shape as it was probably a recent drop, but just the same it is the oldest coin I ever found ;D

Here's the photo I promised

Re: 1887 Morgan

That counts as an old coin any day of the week. The object with the coin on it was lost just the same as an old coin. Super Job!! I wish you further successes.

Welcome to Tnet

That's still a silver dollar. The only one I ever found was a recent drop found in a school play ground about an inch or so deep. Great find

Thank you all for your kind remarks :)

The photo I posted doesn't do the coin justice. It is in great condition, has all of it's ridges, really good relief and very legible. A coin guy I know said it would grade VF or maybe better.

Thanx for welcomming me to the site. Finding this coin has inspired me to get into this hobby more deeply and as soon as the snow melts for good thats what I'm going to do.

Regards, MichiganRob
