I guess you never know what you'll find. This is the second stage of our main street tear out. Our city dates back to late 1880's. I was lucky enough to find my first seated when they did the first tear out. I managed to pull my second seated out of this section along with a few wheaties and a ton of junk. It was an 1887 seated dime. The Worst thing about digging a hard pack street is how tough it is to dig and how encrusted the items are. Anyways I managed to pull out this souvenir metal. I found one site with a picture so I emailed the guy and he says the are rare and collectible among boxing enthusiasts. If anyone has more info please let me know!! So far I have treated it like a coin, only using mild soap and water and a toothbrush. I think it would clean up real nice with some chemicals but hesitate, because of possibly ruining it. Thanks for looking!!

Thank you! It's funny how this kind of stuff makes you look up past history. The fight took place in Carson City. Apparently it was the first full length movie as well, running for over an hour. I need to try and get a better picture. The top banner says souvenir. The upper part of the badge says great fight. The metal has the rest of the info (Corbett Fitzsimmons Carson city, with the date(1897) on the very bottom.
