Hello Everyone, I thought I would post my Recent Weekend finds.
Me and My Brothers was asked if We could locate a original homesite on a large Kentucky farm. The family have been doing extensive research of the descendants but had no idea where the original homesite was from the 1700's.
We spent some time searching Iron and finally got in some good brick pieces littered with rose head, T and L head nails, e.t.c. The first button found was a nice dandy button with a etched design. Then other buttons followed were more Dandys, Tombac and Pewter buttons. The pewters are in very poor condition, but can see part of a script letter on one of the buttons. Also found a saddle strap guide, a heel plate with numerous nail holes that I thought was strange with having so many holes? Finds of the day was nice decorative pieces of shoe buckles, a cut 8 reale and a Set of Early Masonic cufflinks with multiple symbols which I was very excited to find as these were being worn at the same time George Washington as a Mason himself had just became our First President and Kentucky had just became a State.
It was a Exciting hunt and So Glad We could connect facts of history with research and share the Journey through time with the Landowners.
Happy hunting and hope Everyone had a blessed Weekend. Bill
