Since I missed the low tide mark this morning, I figured I would hit the afternoon outgoing (7:03) before it got to dark...well, I screwed the pooch on this one, shoulda hit it in the morning..Did find a few items with the new method I learned..

Two knife Handles, one is a hard black material and the other is well preserved wood with silver inlay...yes, the hudson river mud preserves everything, just ask about the potato that was preserved from the 1700's..

At first I thought this was just a scrap piece of brass/copper, then I looked at it and it has an ornate design, I am at a loss..

Hey! At least you made some finds!
Don't know what your Greek Key patterned piece is.........Those wood handled utensils are typically inlaid with pewter......

HH! Iowa Dale

Nice finds thanks for sharing. Kudos on braving the cold.

Here is an up close image of the handle with the Inlay...its way to small to be a handle to a utensil of any sort..Maybe a dagger or boot knife...

Will be back out tomorrow am for the 7:12 low tide in the balmy 31 Degree weather..I am curious what else the river may reveal...supposedly, there is an older gentlemen who walks this very beach just to pick up the Indian heads that wash ashore...I wouldn't doubt it.

Nice digs Mucky,Man I bet that's a cold breeze coming off that water, makes me cold thinking about it.Good luck tomorrow!Early bird gets the worm.-HH

I'm thinking a ring of some importance and purpose. Fraternity. organization, or secret group maybe?

It wasn't that bad..My old lady got me an Irish fishermans sweater when we visited Ireland, man thats the warmest sweater I have ever known...lol

you do find some really interesting things

Thanks, coins are great and all but I like variety such as bottles and strange items like the green copper/brass thingy..with stuff like that..you never know what you will dig up..

I too like variety. Pretty tough around here though unless I want a variety of different pull tabs and bottle caps. Great job braving the elements and making some nice finds.

You are a brave man. Also being in the Hudson Valley I know how cold and windy it's been this week. Hope you are rewarded for your efforts.

Went out this morning, shore ice has the beach's locked down. Unless we have a sustained January thaw, season is over until march.

Maybe an old copper ring pretty cool...

The next warm day, over 20 degrees I’m going to work the waterline at a local beach.

At least your able to get out.
