Got permission to hunt a house in the "Historic District" of town. Built 1911 and owned by the same family all these years.

Low hanging power lines gave us a bit of trouble, but I got 4 wheaties (11, 20, 39, 42) and a '43P nickel in about 2 hours. Also got a '60 memorial cent, a couple of washers, and the obligatory pull tab. Generally, the front yard was very clean.

The backyard was a different story. It was loaded with what I assume are "coal clinkers". Most were small (pea size), but they were everywhere!. They really made the MDs go nuts (as well as the MDers). I did manage a homemade lead weight and a chrome disk a little larger than a nickel that says "Range Servant". I'll post that in the Whatsit forum when I get a picture...

All-n-all, a good outing for me.

Next time, a little more discrimination might help.

Those places with hot rocks and other stuff are a challenge to hunt. Glad you got some keepers. It's amazing how some places really lack targets.

You got a couple cool finds, congrats!
I hate coal pieces and hot rocks, aggravating for sure.

Smiles!
