1916 mercury dime

I dug up a 1916 mercury dime today. I can't make out if the mint mark is a "D".... oh please please let it be.

I give up. Can not get a decent picture. I will have to bring it to a collector and see what they say.

Based on how clear the rest of the features are, I'd be surprised if just the "D" mint mark were obliterated. My guess is that it's a Philly coin. Hopefully I'm wrong. Either way, it's a nice find!

Does anybody know if it has lost it's value as just a 1916, ...if it turns out to be a fake mint mark? Which I'm kinda leaning towards because of it's position and clarity in comparison to what I've seen. WHY do people do this s..t! Such a rush then wam, the life gets sucked right out of you.Thank you to everyone with your responses and whenever I do get this looked at, I will post the outcome.

It is a VERY nice find, no matter what it turns out to be.

One suggestion I have is if you have a magnifying glass you might try taking a pic thru that lens.

Yeah,

You would know if it was a D. Maybe your right about it being a fake mint mark. Still take it to an expert, if they offer you $600 take it.

No way to tell with that picture. Practically speaking the odds of it having a D mint mark are very remote.
