Found a 1916-s Barber at a TX ghost town site a couple of months ago. I just got around to looking at it close and something is going on in the mint mark department.

It appears the the S is doubled. Nothing else on the coin appears to be doubled so I am assuming it isn't a double die but a double strike?

Here are a few pics for everyone...

Definitely looks doubled.
If nothing else is doubled then most likely the engraver double cut it.
Look for references of mint errors for the date and mint.
Great find... congrats

A double mint mark is a known variety and adds a little to the value. In it's current condition, I doubt it will add much however. Cool find! :icon_thumright:
