1916d Buffalo and 1904 V...tons of wheats...wheres the silver?

Hit a park today...established 1907...got 14 wheats, 1916d Buffalo and 1904 V nickel...also dug this tiny lockit...has "L.S. Co. 1/20 - 12kGP on Sterling" stamped on the inside. I assume this means gold plated over sterling silver. It is tiny. All digs were in the 3-7 inch range...average about five inches...Detected mostly the woodline and outskirts of the park...Could not find a silver coin for anything

Doug...nice finds, like that locket....keep at it and go over it again and again slowly and the silver will show, try using high sensitivity and low discrimination, for what silver is left is probably deep and possibly on edge, for sounds like the place has been picked over for the easy silver with good signals, thus you may not get great solid signals at first on what is left...but I think its there just waiting on you... Every time I find some wheats someone always comes back that I will soon find silver also. I haven't found tht darn silver yet! The silver I have found has always been seperate from the wheats for some reason. It could be that someone has detected the area and just ignored the penny signals and only dug the silver? Beats me, but I do hope you find some silver. Monty

While it seems to be true that wheats and indian heads, buffaloes, and V's are a sign that there will probably be silver around the corner, that theory doesn't always hold true. I was at a site earlier this summer and my friend and I dug 25 wheats and a few indian heads from an old Victorian home's front yard (the targets were just littered everywhere--a sure sign that the yard likely hadn't been hunted previously). Surprisingly, we found no silver. Silver coins were much easier to see when dropped, plus they were more valuable to try and find after they were lost. Sometimes, the silver gods just don't smile on ya. However, I do think that in a park like yours you will eventually pick up some silver coins. Persistence pays. Let us know when ya find 'em.
