1922 "no D" penny

I didn't find this with a metal detector but I did just discover it. I just found this penny while looking through what was left of a coin collection I bought a couple years ago. I bought a big penny collection and ebayed the best ones but somehow this flew under my radar and has sat in a box of error coins that I thought was all pretty much junk. Good thing I took another look in there before I got rid of them! I think I'll have to take another look at the rest of the coins to see what else I missed.

I just listed this on ebay. Anyone have any guesses what it might be worth?

have no idea but sure you could find it in a coin book for it is a nice coin

There are 3 different ones. One with No D, one with a partial D, and a 1922 D.

Your's looks like the partial D. But the only way to be sure is by the reverse. If the reverse has an exceptionally storng well defined strike, that may be the real deal. Judging from the weakness of the last 2 on your date, I kinda doubt it. It looks like the "weak D" variety to me.

Still worth $50-$100 though, in that condition.

Thanks for the info. There is a very light D that you can just barely see on it and the reverse is no sharp either. I guess that makes it the weak D variety. I suppose it won't sell for the big bucks but $50-$100 still sounds good!

Scratch that 50-100 ballpark.... probably more like 20 or so. Still not bad for a cent, though!

Hello - Congratulations on a Great Find!! The 1922 penny which shows no D mint mark was due to very worn dies. In G4 condition the 2006 Redbook notes a value of $450.00. In G8 condition is goes up to $550.00.
