1944 Canadian Nickel

Slowly working through my box's of nicks, I stumbled a crossed this gem. While the value isn't particularly high, its still a nice surprise.

A Tombac - nice! I"ve only found one of those in the same amount of time I've found 4 Liberty nickels!

Nice find. Its like a Canadian V nickel lol. I don't find too many of those old Canadian nic's myself. I think the oldest Ive ever found is a 1940 I found a couple of years ago. I don't usually care much for foreign coins but I do like the older Canadian coins.

Not Tombac (88% Copper and 12% Zinc, nonmagnetic, looks like copper)
Tombac was used in some 1942 and all of 1943
1944 and 1945 were chrome plated steel (magnetic)
It is possible to have a error coin 1944 tombac, it would be worth a lot (>$10,000)

This coin looks like steel, still a nice find!!

Thank you for the correction. I thought the color was a little off on my screen but should have noticed the year was off by one.
