1945 manila Philippines trench art ring!?!?

Did a little research on this ring I found today and it might be a trench art ring from Manila Philippines!!!


Atleast I hope so!!!

Professional cast ring, likely a souvenir and not likely "trench made". There were many thousands of US civilian workers in the Phillipines before WW2 besides troops. Could have been purchased by a soldier or anybody else. Cool find but I doubt it has any military association.

I found one of these rings many years ago in San Francisco and was told by my friend Milo Ramos, who survived the Japanese occupation that these silver rings were souvenirs sold to GI's. The interesting part of this story was that the silver for these rings came from the silver pesos General McArthur dumped in Manillia Bay during his retreat. The gold strip with the name Manilla is also salvaged from fortunes of war. Very cool find and it has rattled my brain about my old friend who survived execution as a young boy when he was covered over by the bodies of his comrades.

Very interesting Qball!! Thanks for good information!!! I asked the owner of the land today if it was his family's and he said no and I could keep it. He said there used to be an apple orchard where I found it and someone clearly dropped it, he said many people used to get apples there besides his family
