Earthworks and I spent Sunday morning detecting a fairly new (1980) beach on a lakefront in an upstate New York state park. Typical clad was abundant but right in the middle was this 1948 Costa Rican coin! After speaking with the park administrators ... it turns out that the sand was removed from New York City's "Jones Beach" and transported upstate for this beach. I can only assume that it is likely that this coin traveled up with the sand 27 years ago!

GD :)

Nice coin GD, that's probably a first for Treasure Net, looks like you've found a decent hunting spot. Good luck on your return visit and thanks for sharing.

Nice coin,

First one I have seen posted. I'd have taken it no matter how it got there.
