Found this while metal detecting on an old farm property - there was a nearby car in bad shape - looked like something from the 1950's. This was hanging on the rear fender area driver side. I wonder if anyone can identify the car from this 14" long piece of trim?
It would be easier to identify if you'd posted a picture of the car you removed it from. :laughing7:

I went back to take some photos of the old car - might help with identification .

Look at the trim on the front fender right behind the wheel well.View attachment 2082558
Hmm, could be close but the piece came off a spot in front of the rear fender and opposite the front door handle. You can see the 3 clips in the photo of the old wreck that held it on.

Take a look at the earlier photo I posted .. It shows a piece to the rear of the door handle. Here is another 56 Chevy that shows a clearer side view. That must be the piece of trim you have.

It could also be from a 55. Tail light style would be the only way to know for sure since the front clip is gone. To me, it looks like a 56 tail light.

Both parts are very similar, but I believe you may be right about it being off of a '55.

Looking at the part cellerfeller posted more closely, The '56 trim sweeps forward at the bottom of the trim/part because it ties into trim that only extends forward. The '55 trim piece sweeps forward and back because the trim below it runs underneath of it.

Both parts are very similar, but this looks more like a '55 to me.

Cellerfeller that car you pictured sure looks like a 1955 or 1956 chevrolet

How about at the very end like on this one, look above the rear bumper.

This picture of two 1955 classics came from my personal collection, the car belonged to buddy of mine.

Oh and the aircraft is 55-0022 "Lone Wolf" the last C-130A flying on Active Duty at the time, plus she still had the old side loading cargo door. I use to work on her, until they retired her in 2002 or so.

Sadly someone would probably want $10k for a shell like that now. Car prices are out of control.
