I got one with my change at the store and made a different sound as other coins. So I googled it quick. Apparently that was the last year they were made of silver. It's got a "D" mintmark on the back. Could anyone tell me more about it? Are they common? Thanks!

It's worth just over $6.00 and that was the last year they made the silver quarter.
Check out this link http://www.jimmysmdblog.com/2010/10/goldsilver-coin-melt-calculator.html  Charlie

They are very common, but nice score on the silver quarter. They are the hardest silver coins to find in circulation as they where hoarded by people when the gubberment changed our coins from 90% silver to copper clad compusition. And also I would like to say I hate it when people refer to old silver coins as Junk Silver :angry4: If anything is Junk it's our modern coins!!! Good Luck And Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll have more questions for ya'. I just gotta find more stuff!!
