I found this coin tonight and it looks as if the D mint mark is up and to the left from it's normal position. It's pretty much touching the 9. I'm not sure what might have caused this. Anyone seen this before?

The coin in question is on the left. I'll try to add a clearer picture tomorrow.

Mintmarks were stamped into dies individually, so variation in position is normal.
 
Is this kind or thing common? I've never seen the mint mark touching the date before or at least don't recall I have.

I'm guessing there is no added collector value to the coin?

I wouldn't say that's it rare. They usually don't carry a premium either. Ne'er the less good eye.
