Actually I "found" it a few days ago while cruising through craigslist, but I bought it today! Seems old mustangs don't stay for sale for long, so I rushed it, and probably paid too much, but hell, at least I got one finally!
Anyway, I know it's not quite what this forum had in mind, but it's a treasure to me. It's a straight 6, 1965 hardtop coupe with an auto trans, everything else manual, no AC. Looks all original, engine runs good, tranny might need some help, (some clanging when shifting into reverse) but it drives. paint looks original, looks good for 43 years old. Interier is great except for a few tears, looks original also. She's a keeper! :)

Cool!!! Please post some photos of it for us. Is it a fast back?

let see some pics please

I had three in my younger days wish I'd have kept them, but then again we all say that dont we
great find

Nice find!

My first car was a 1965 convertible with the 289 HO 4 sp Muncie T10(rock crusher). Man I wish I still had it.

I always keep my eyes open to rescue an old classic rotting away in a back yard or field. I few years ago I found a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 in great condition I bought for $1000. Took it home and did some adjusting on the distributor and it fired right up. I drove it for a year, put a new paint job on it, took it to the classic car show and won a trophy for best in show. You see people always claiming their 1970 Mach 1 is "rare" but this one came factory with a 3 sp manual. I have yet to see one with a factory 3 sp manual besides mine. The Marti report says it was ordered that way.

When I got it it was blue but I found it was originally Calypso Coral so I went back to the original color. Here is a picture of it.

Good Lord that is a beautiful machine!!!!!!!!!!

Beerbelly - That clanging when shifting into reverse might be the U-joint. Another way to tell if one of the U-joints is worn is if you get a lot of vibration when cruising. Usually the ker-clunk you hear when you take it out of park is also a good indicator.

Digger - That is one sweet car.

I had two friends I have not seen in about 15-20 years, but each of them owned a Mustang Shelby KR. Hope I am getting that name right (KR for King of the Road I think). One guy was a salesman that I used to work with - his was a golden colored '67 Shelby Mustang convertible. The other friend took me for a ride in his which was a cherry red either '67 or 68'. Heh it had a harness in the seats like the race drivers use - he had told me it came that way. It was kind of strange the way the seat was in that it kind of wrapped around my body. It was a fun ride. I could be remembering the years wrong since it was so long ago, but I do know that they were real Shelby Mustangs and both were/are nice cars.

Me, I still have my '69 Camaro I bought back in '84 for $2,200. Not a bad investment there. I just wish I had kept the two junk ones I used for parts. I had clean titles on them and now they would be worth restoring. But they went to the scrap yard back in the '80's. :(

That reminds me, time to get the car out of storage and take it for a drive.

sweet car, digger. :) :o

Sorry I replied so late, I've been busy getting it legal. It's registered in my name now, got plates and tags. I won't have any pics for awhile, but she's no beauty, not yet anyway. She's a diamond in the rough.

That's an awesome car Digger. I'm jealous! I bet it's fast!

Scott, there is definitely vibration when driving.

Cruisin, it's not a fastback, just the regular 65 hardtop 6 cylinder basic model. It's got an auto tranny, but manual everything else including manual AC. (window cranks).

Nice car and great restoration...

I have a 2005 mustang that I bought new in October of 04 as it was being unloaded at the dealer...fun machines.

As of this posting I am the high bidder on a 86' El Camino that looks like its just came off of the showroom floor...might be making a 250 mile road trip this weekend to mid-state California (San Luis Obispo)...1 day - 16 hours left

Again, good looking set of wheels...enjoy
