I've been detecting since I was a kid. My first detector was given to me by my great-grandfather and I remember it was a Whites. It was heavy as hell (of course). I would recognize it if I saw it but all I remember is that it had a white coil and a large blue aluminum box that contained everything electronics wise. Any ideas / links? Sorry if this has been answered before but I did search both tnet and google with no luck. I wish I still had it but this is just for nostalgic reasons.

HH and TIA!

Try Whites Coinmaster on Google, or FeeBay if your looking to buy. I still have two of the old Blue Boxes...a 5000D and a 6 D/B (my first machine, bought in '80). Good detectors.

The white coil dates it to ~1970 or later. If it was pre-78, odds are it was a Coinmaster IV (CM4) which was sold by the gazillions.

Here is a web site that has downloadable catalogs:

https://www.treasurelinx.com/whites.html

The 1976 White's catalog has a CM4 on the cover.
