I found what looks to be a no FG half, 1972 D.
Of course I looked on the bay, and found not many for sale, and the ones that were there sold for quite a bit more than face value.
I did a little reading on the subject, and found characteristics exhibited the variety, such as weak tail feathers and stars under them, as well as some scuffing above the In God We Trust motto on the obverse. My found example seems to show them as well.
Is this a rare occurrence?

I’ve found a handful of the no FG varieties with different years and mint marks...They’re keepers in my book, so congrats to you!

I have only found about 4 of them, all 1983 so far. it is a keeper!

I have 4 of the 1983 version saved.
I understand from researching the 1972 is much more scarce.
However, the internet is not always the most factual source.
It has been interesting to learn about.
I saw some eye-popping auction results for graded coins, and they were circulated examples. Then again, some internet experts call this a $3 coin.
I always consider what people will pay to be the true value of anything.
Does anyone have trustworthy sources of information about this, or any other coin matters?
