Are the front and back supposed to match up evenly

Match up evenly? You mean the thickness of the rim?

If this is what you mean, it is VERY common for one side to seem a bit off-center while the other side looks good. However, even if both sides are off, a coin still isn't worth any more unless they're off by more than a fraction.

Know if the head is straight then the building on the back is crooked

So are you talking about a Rotated Die? If so, how much rotation (estimated, in degrees)?
