This is according to the guy behind me at a bank the other day.

The guy behind me sees my coin bags and ask if I collect. After a couple minutes of general talk he brings up halves and tells me he keeps all 82's and 98's as "those are the rare ones worth money." Uh, what?

I would have told him that I only collected the older ones and tried to work out some sort of trade or just a future sale of any '82 and '98 I might find.

What a brilliant idea! Should have thought of that. I would justify it by the old, "one mans trash is another mans treasure."

yeah there worth 50 cents lmao

1982 seems to be an uncommon date for me with halves(i date check my coins), however, 1998 is a fairly common coin. I check 1982 for the "no fg" error, though i have never found one before. I average 3-4 1982 halves per box.

Can I have his displayable 1985's then? I kid you not I have yet after a year and boatload of boxes have yet to find an "85 I'd put in an album. I think I am getting depressed.

i get some 1985's each box, but i agree, they are almost as uncommon as a 1982 half.,

What about the 1987's? I've got 8 Whitman's most are near complete- the one Gapping hole I have in a nearly all of them is the 1987 D & P!!! (at least with one worth of being in the book anyway.) Now- who's got a few of those to trade even-steve???

PEACE

87 P-D were not released for circulation, only mint sets...

Maybe he was thinking about the elusive 1975 half.
