I got bored this evening so I took the detector up to the in-laws house and decided to snoop around for a little. Didn't find anything earth-shattering, but was my best day thus far (been detecting for a few weeks only) with 3 quarters, horseshoe, bullet casings, spoon (still trying to read the marks), oven top, hitch pin and turkey diaphragm call. The 3 quarters were all in the same hole, the first being a 1967, the second a 2001 and the last a 1996. When I pulled the 1967 and saw others in the hole I held my breath for my first silver, but it was not to be. Maybe next time, still 125 acres to detect there :headbang:

thanks for looking

Same situation here. In-laws have 40 acres that have been in the family since the very early 1900's. I'm so happy I now have something to do when I'm forced to go visit. Who know what I'll find.

Happy Hunting!
